Through copious amounts of research we, my wife and I, have just found someone else with an almost identical problem with electricity as we have experienced. It seems that Scottish Power do not have a monopoly on the market for overcharging people for electricity not used. It would appear that NPower are in on the act too.
The couple concerned live in the Borders of Scotland, and have experienced this problem over a period of seven years. Someone from NPower then came along and "fiddled" with the external wiring to their house, which caused a drop in the amount of electricity this couple used from 66 units of electricity a day to 22 units a day. Its little comfort to find someone else in the same predicament, but at least our problem is not unique.
I have considered writing a book on the subject of incompetent energy supplying companies, but don't know how well received it would be. In this era of naming and shaming I believe that like all other industries for example: school performance tables, or NHS performance tables, energy supplier need to be treated the same. However I feel it needs to be based on consumer opinion, not on official performance results as fabricated by the companies themselves. End users experiences are what counts.
