Adversities of life in the 21st Century

If this was a Hollywood movie, just about now some hotshot lawyer would turn up with the perfect solution. Sadly however this is real life. I go to see my solicitor tomorrow, to see what he suggests. I am taking just a few samples of what I think are the most compelling pieces of evidence. I will advise him however that indeed I have copious amounts of data.

At present it feels like my world has imploded. Whoever said "Life's a bitch and then you die," wasn't far off the mark.

I have finally found a Solicitor willing to help me in my struggle against Scottish Power. However, he has indicated that it may not be of any benefit, with Scottish Power being such a big company. It would seem that all you have to do in order to be above the law is be big. Big enough that no-one is prepared to take you on. It looks as though I have reached the end of the road. No-one is willing, other than myself, to take on the mighty Scottish Power - therefore I lose and the mighty Scottish Power rolls on crushing another victim and stealing from them.

In my opinion, anyone who reads this blog should please ensure that all friends and relatives have full knowledge of what this company is like before entering into a contract with them. The clue is there to be seen "con - tract"

Through copious amounts of research we, my wife and I, have just found someone else with an almost identical problem with electricity as we have experienced. It seems that Scottish Power do not have a monopoly on the market for overcharging people for electricity not used. It would appear that NPower are in on the act too.

I have considered writing a book on the subject of incompetent energy supplying companies, but don't know how well received it would be. In this era of naming and shaming I believe that like all other industries for example: school performance tables, or NHS performance tables, energy supplier need to be treated the same. However I feel it needs to be based on consumer opinion, not on official performance results as fabricated by the companies themselves. End users experiences are what counts.

Have just completed the latest round of letters to the thickos at Scottish Power. Once again pointing out the blatant errors. Once again reiterating that we are still facing a contretemps. I think that they think that if they give me the runaround long enough, I'll give in. However, not so. I'm in for the long haul. I don't take legal action lightly. I already face the prospect of high bills, and am not going to add legal fees, just to indulge myself. Someone somewhere knows how to get these morons to see the issue here. It's just going to take time to find this individual.

Heard from my friends at Scottish Power a couple of days ago. It seems that paying a single payment of £1150.00 was unacceptable. They now intend seeking payment by debt collection. I say send your debt collectors and ensure you have good healthcare packages for them. I for my part intend to continue to pursue the matter via the legal route.

Can I also say good luck Kenny, I hope you can successfully take on this scum. Believe me there is a huge number of people out there who are having similar problems with Scottish Power. Even my neighbour who has switched suppliers and cut his losses is benefitting from the repairs made to the system by Scottish Power on 10/04/07. His bills have dropped around £600.00 per year and when you take into consideration the increases in pricing recently, you understand the magnitude of the problem. I still take comfort in the old statement that the truth will always find a route to be told.

Received a reply today from Scottish Power. They are apparently sorry that I feel the need to seek legal advice, but wish to advise me that they intend to fight me in the courts. I should expect no less!! They also tell me that should a court find in their favour, I will incur legal fees. Well bugger me - I never thought on that!! And they finish by saying that they stiil intend to pursue the remaining outstanding balance through their debt collection service.

My response is - bring it on. The other side of the coin is that a court finds in my favour, and then who incurs legal expenses. As for the remaining outstanding balance - if the court finds in my favour I stand to receive a large sum of money I have already overpaid, plus I'll aim for maximum compensation for the stress and anguish this has caused over the years. Am I confident I'll win - the simple answer is no, but I believe I have enough evidence to prove my case. Obviously I will be guided by my solicitor once he gets back to me.

Have just returned from holiday in my caravan. I feel totally refreshed and ready to continue my fight against Scottish Power and their rediculous regime. I have sent a cheque for £1150.00 to cover my electrical usage from 10/04/07 until present day, but still intend to fight the remaining outstanding figure of around £2450.00 - which is how much I had apparently underpaid for the year 2005-2006 despite having already paid £798.00.

I have also been in contact with a firm of Solicitors I am told are really good. So I hope to hear from them soon. Incidentally whilst my wife and I were away for a week in the caravan, our daughter used on average 9-10 units of electricity per day, which is consistent with last year when we were away for a week. However, if we look at the previous year (before we were given a digital meter) we used 27.5 units of electricity per day and our daughter was with us at that time, so no-one was in the house. Does that not sound strange to anyone? Certainly to no-one in Scottish Power anyway!
