Arrived home from work today and was greeted by my wife brandishing a letter. The said letter was type-written on Scottish Power headed note paper. However it was seemingly from someone in Energywatch. The letter was dated 11/09/07 and apparently was in answer to a letter sent to Energywatch - by me!! I haven't written to Energywatch since November last year as I recall. I generally telephone them. The last time I spoke to anyone at Energywatch was indeed on the 11th of September. I spoke to my case manager Pauline Armstrong who informed me that she no longer dealt with complaints but would pass my message onto the new case manager who is seemly called Monica. This letter is however from someone with a Gaelic name.

Co-incidentally we received a trio of telephone calls all from the same number, whilst at the Citizens Advice Bureau on Monday. No message was left, but I tried to call back. After 2 hours of the line being permanently engaged I gave up. Now this number called again today. Again no message was left, however my wife managed to intercept the second call from this number. The person said that they were either a Mr Broddigan or Mr Brannigan from Scottish Power, she could not make out which. He asked to speak to me, but obviously I was at work. He then asked her to say that he had called and hung up. Again following one and a half hours of this line being permanently engaged I gave up. So I haven't got a clue what is going on now.

This brings to mind a recurring thought from over the years. How do the likes of Utility companies expect people to pay bills if they were at home during business hours to take calls from them instead of being at work earning money to pay these rediculous amounts?
